Equisetum arvense, or horsetail, is a perennial herb of the Equisetaceae family, native to Europe, Asia, and North America. Dating back approximately 350 million years to the Devonian period, when it grew as tall as modern palm trees, it is characterized by its jointed, reed-like stems and high silica content, making it one of the richest plant sources of this mineral. Also known as scouring rush, bottle brush, or shavegrass, it has been used historically in shampoos, skincare products, and dietary supplements.

Horsetail supports healthy hair, skin, and nails due to its high silica content.
  • Cut & Sifted: Dried stems are decocted as tea or infused into herbal vinegars and tonics, offering a traditional preparation method.
  • Powder: Finely ground from organic Equisetum arvense, the powder is ideal for encapsulation, tincturing, or blending into herbal body care recipes, providing consistent dosing.

Cut & sifted is suited for decoctions and infusions requiring gradual extraction; powder offers convenience, precise measurement, and versatility for capsules or topical formulations—both deliver the same silica-rich benefits for hair, skin, and nail health.
