Ginkgo biloba, or ginkgo, is a deciduous tree of the Ginkgoaceae family, with distinctive fan-shaped, bilobed leaves that turn golden in autumn. Native to a limited range in China's Zhejiang province, wild populations are rare, but the tree is extensively cultivated worldwide, particularly in China, France, and the United States. Standardized leaf extracts are among the most frequently prescribed plant-based remedies in Europe, and in the U.S., ginkgo has ranked among the top ten best-selling herbs for over five years. The leaves contain unique compounds known as ginkgolides—found in no other plant species—along with flavonoids and terpenoids. Leaves are harvested in late summer or early autumn as they begin to change color and then dried for use. Ginkgo trees are dioecious, meaning male and female reproductive structures exist on separate trees; female trees produce small, globular fruits with a pungent odor, so commercial cultivation typically uses only male trees to avoid fruit production.

Ginkgo supports overall cognitive health and helps maintain healthy circulation.
  • Cut & Sifted: Dried leaves offer a gentle, slightly sweet effect and are used in teas, extracts, infusions, and herbal formulations.
  • Powder: Finely ground from organically grown Ginkgo biloba leaves, the powder is ideal for encapsulation, tincturing, or blending into beverages and wellness formulas, providing consistent delivery of active compounds.

Cut & sifted leaves are best for traditional brewing methods like teas and gradual infusions; powder offers convenience, precise dosing, and easy integration into capsules, extracts, or blended supplements—both preserve the full profile of ginkgolides and support cognitive and circulatory health.
