Firearms, NFA & FFL Transfer Policy
Last updated: July 2026 · Questions? thrive@ridgelinehomesteading.com
Ridgeline Homesteading is the retail brand of For You Brewing Supplies, a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL) and Special Occupational Taxpayer (SOT). All firearms and NFA items are sold by and ship from For You Brewing Supplies, in full compliance with federal, state, and local law. You'll see the For You Brewing Supplies name on your shipment and on the transfer paperwork at your dealer. Please read this policy before ordering a firearm — it explains exactly how the process works.
How buying a firearm from us works
Firearms ship only to a licensed firearms dealer (FFL) — never directly to your home. You complete the transfer, including a background check, in person at the dealer you choose. Start to finish:
- Order online. Add the firearm to your cart and check out as usual. At checkout you'll enter your preferred FFL dealer — name, city, and state.
- We confirm your dealer. After your order, we contact your selected dealer, verify their license is current, and confirm they'll accept the transfer. Not sure which dealer to use? Contact us — we're glad to help you find one nearby.
- We ship dealer-to-dealer. Once your dealer is verified, we ship the firearm to them from For You Brewing Supplies (our licensed FFL/SOT). Flat $35 per firearm shipping to your dealer.
- You complete the transfer. Your dealer notifies you when it arrives. You go in, complete ATF Form 4473, and pass a background check (NICS). Your dealer may charge a separate transfer fee, paid directly to them.
- You take it home once the transfer is approved and complete.
Who can buy
By ordering a firearm, you certify that you are legally eligible to purchase and possess it — including that you:
- meet the minimum age (generally 18 for long guns, 21 for handguns; your receiving dealer verifies age at transfer);
- are not prohibited from possessing firearms under federal, state, or local law; and
- will comply with all laws that apply where you take possession.
The receiving dealer runs the background check and will decline the transfer if it cannot be completed lawfully.
Where we can ship
We ship firearms only where the sale, transfer, and possession are lawful. Some firearms, magazines, and features are restricted in certain states and cities. If your order can't ship lawfully to your dealer's location, we'll contact you to adjust or cancel it. Handguns must transfer through a dealer in your state of residence.
You are responsible for knowing the laws that apply where you live. If you're unsure whether an item is legal for you, please check before ordering — or ask us.
NFA items (suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, AOWs)
Some items we sell are regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA) — suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBR), short-barreled shotguns (SBS), and any-other-weapons (AOW). These transfer only through a licensed dealer and involve extra steps:
- The transfer requires ATF Form 4, a background check, and ATF approval before you can take possession — expect an approval wait.
- After you order, we'll confirm your dealer and walk you through the transfer.
- Flat $35 per item shipping to your dealer.
Transfer tax: As of 2026, the $200 federal transfer tax no longer applies to suppressors, short-barreled rifles, or short-barreled shotguns — only the ATF paperwork and approval remain. Other NFA categories may still carry a transfer tax.
Shipping & fees
- Flat $35 per firearm or NFA item, shipped to your dealer. If your order includes more than one, each is charged $35.
- Your receiving dealer may charge a separate transfer fee, set by and paid directly to them. That fee is not included in our price.
Cancellations, returns & refunds
Please choose carefully. Because firearms ship to a licensed dealer and can't be resold as new once they've left our shop, our firearm return policy is strict.
- Before your order ships: cancel any time for a full refund.
- After your order ships, before transfer — you cancel, refuse the transfer, or the transfer can't be completed (including a denied background check): the firearm is returned to us and we refund your purchase price less a 20% restocking fee, and you are responsible for shipping both ways. Your dealer's transfer fee, if any, is between you and your dealer.
- After transfer: all firearm sales are final. Once you accept the transfer, the firearm is considered used and cannot be returned or refunded. If you discover a manufacturer defect, contact the manufacturer and they will handle it under their warranty.
- Inspect before you accept. Examine your firearm at your dealer before completing the paperwork. If it isn't what you expected or shows any damage, decline the transfer — that is your window, because once transferred the sale is final.
- Never ship a firearm back without authorization. Contact us first.
About this policy
This page explains how we handle firearm and NFA sales; it is not legal advice. Firearm laws vary by location and change over time, and you are responsible for compliance where you live. If anything here is unclear, contact us before ordering. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order we cannot fulfill lawfully.
